Artist Research - Joanne Gair



Joanne Gair


Joanne Gair is a new Zealand born make up artist and body painter. Her works have been featured in the sports illustrated swimsuit issue from 1999 to the present issue. She is considered the worlds leading tompe-loeil body painter and make up artist.

She became well known and renowned with a vanity fair article titled Demis birthday suit. Which featured Demi moore in a full bodied paint piece in 1992.

Her 'disappearing model' was featured on the highest rated episode of Ripleys belive it or not. 

In addition the achieving pop culture prominence and respect in the fashion and art worlds, starting with her painting of Demi moore, she is an award winnning make up artist in the rock and roll scene. 

Gair has worked closely with several of her music based clients and helped them win fashion and style awards. 

She is considered a fashion and art trend setter. In 2005, she published her first book titled ''Paint A 'Licious: The Pain-Free Way to Achieving Your Naked Ambitions ''. Since then she has also published another two books

At the peak of her pop culture fame after the vanity fair cover of demi moore, she was highly considered for an Absalut Vodka Absolute Gair campaign. She has also worked for and created various magazine editorial work. In 2005, she became a photographer for her own work for books and magazines.
